DESCRIPTION:

FX-63 Hydro-Ester® Heat Resistant Trowel Grade is a 100% solids, moisture insensitive epoxy adhesive and repair material. FX-63 is a paste consistency, high temperature resistant epoxy, that can be applied to vertical or overhead surface applications.

WHERE TO USE:

  • Bonding Ceramic Tiles to Furnace Linings
  • Bonding Concrete or Metal in high temperatures
  • Vertical and overhead repairs in high temperature environments

ADVANTAGES:

FX-63 Heat Trowel produces a high modulus, high strength adhesive that will bond to moist, wet or dry surfaces and may be feather-edged. The 1:1 mix ratio conveniently prevents mistakes when mixing in the field. It may be used in temperatures of up to 400°F. FX-63 Heat Trowel exhibits superior resistance to heat aging at elevated temperatures when compared to ordinary room temperature cured epoxies.

No peeling or blistering

SURFACE PREPARATION:

For best results, areas to receive the FX-63 Heat Trowel should be free of laitance, grease, oil and any other contaminants that would inhibit a bond. Wire brushing, waterblasting, or sandblasting of surface is recommended. Metal surfaces should be cleaned to SSPC 6 with a two mil profile. The surface being adhered to must be clean, firm, dry, free of dust, dirt oil and grease and be strong enough to support the weight of adhesives and tiles being fixed.

MIXING:

Combine equal volumes of A and B component. Mix in a clean pail, using a slow-speed drill and an FX-Mixing Paddle. Mix well until uniform color, about 2 to 3 minutes. Apply immediately.

APPLICATION:

For ceramic tiles, apply FX-63 HT to a bed thickness of 1/8 (125 mils) inch to the prepared surface with a suitably sized notched trowel leaving solid ribs.

For best results a full continuous application of FX-63 should be put on the bonding surface. To achieve this, the tiles should be spread with FX-63 immediately prior to placing into a ribbed bed, removing any voids.

Bed the tiles in firmly with a slight twisting action and make adjustments within 15 minutes of fixing.Tools should be thoroughly cleaned with FX-Epoxy Cleaner to remove excess materials immediately after use. Elevated temperature curing will improve heat Resistance, typically cure at 220¡F for 3 hours.

COVERAGE:

When used neat, a one (1) gallon unit of FX-63 will cover approximately 32 sq. ft. at a 50 mil thickness. When used as mortar, a two (2) gallon unit FX-63 HT, mixed with a maximum of two (2) gallons by volume of FX-703 Filler, will yield approximately 780 cu. in. of paste consistency epoxy adhesive.

SHELF LIFE:

2 years

PACKAGING:

FX-63 HT is packaged in 2 gallon, 4 gallon and 110 gallon units.

LIMITATIONS:

FX-63 HT should not be used when surface temperatures are below 40°F. For ease of use, store between 60°F and 80°F.

CAUTION:

WARNING! "A" Component contains epoxy resin. "B" Component contains alkaline amines; strong sensitizer. May cause skin sensitization or other allergic responses. Use with good ventilation, particularly if material is heated or sprayed. Prevent all contact with skin or eyes. Wear protective clothing, goggles, gloves, and/or barrier creams. Keep container closed when not in use. Wash thoroughly after handling.

FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN. 4/2008
