FX-66 Joint Sealant
DESCRIPTION:
FX-66 Joint Sealant is a two component extended polyurethane elastomer self-leveling joint sealant for joints in concrete, asphalt, or metal. When poured into a horizontal joint, FX-66 is an excellent elastomeric joint sealer with "great memory". FX-66 is also available for machine mixing. FX-66 may be used as a relief joint by mixing it with one part by volume of FX-701 Filler.
ADVANTAGES:
- Easy to use: FX-66 is manufactured in a convenient 1:1 mix ratio by volume.
- Pourable & Self Leveling: With extremely good flow. No special equipment is required for most applications.
- Rapid Cure: Tack free in less than 4 hours at 75°F. Prevents delay in opening joints to traffic.
- Excellent Bond: Holds bond even after immersion in water or jet fuel. No loss in adhesion in below freezing temperatures.
- Good Tear Resistance: Cured material is tough and resists puncture and tearing by sharp objects.
- Flame & Fuel Resistant: Does not ignite, flow, or drip when subjected to flame test. Does not swell or soften when exposed to jet fuel.
SPECIFICATIONS:
ASTM C-920, Type M, Grade P, Class 25, Use T, NT and M.
Federal Specification SS-S195B (St. of Maryland)
Federal Specification SS-S200D (Jet Fuel Resistant)
JOINT PREPARATION:
Clean all surfaces of oil, grease, curing compound, residue, rust, or other foreign materials by sandblasting or mechanical blasting. Remove loose particles by oil-free compressed air or vacuum. Joint slot surfaces must be dry at time of application. Apply masking tape along edges of joint slot for neat, straight edges. Remove tape immediately after sealant levels.
MIXING:
Mix components A & B separately for 2 to 3 minutes, then mix one part of A to one part of B by volume. Mix at medium speed with mixing paddle, moving paddle from top to bottom and around sides of container to insure thorough and complete mixing. Suggested mixing time for 2 gallon units is 4 minutes; 5 minutes for 10 gallon units.
APPLICATION:
Pour mixed FX-66 into joint slot from the container or from a metal or plastic watering can after removing the sprinkler head. For large jobs, automatic metering, mixing and/or placing equipment may be used.
COVERAGE:
One gallon of FX-66 fills 231 cu. in. of joint or 75 LF of 1/2" x 1/2" joint. Primer is required on steel. Primer is not required on concrete and other porous materials.
PACKAGING:
FX-66 is packaged in 2 gallon, 10 gallon and 110 gallon units.
LIMITATIONS:
Joint slots must be dry. Shelf life is 6 months for FX-66. Do not dilute FX-66.

FX-66 contains coal, tar, and organic isocyanates. These are considered irritants. Provide adequate ventilation. Contact with skin or eyes must be avoided.
