DESCRIPTION:

FX-243 & FX-273 Trowel Grade Polymer Repair Mortar are two component mortars composed of polymer resin with high solids content, selected plasticizers, cement and aggregates. FX-243 & FX-273 Trowel Grade Polymer Repair Mortar contain a corrosion cell neutralizing additive—"corrosion inhibitor". It is packaged in a two part unit to produce a trowel grade mortar for vertical, overhead or horizontal application. FX-243 Trowel Grade Polymer Repair Mortar is formulated to be used in temperatures of approximately 40°F to 60°F. FX-273 is formulated to be used in temperatures of approximately 60°F and above. For best results, material should be stored between temperatures of 60°F and 95°F.

ADVANTAGES:

FX-243 & FX-273 Trowel Grade Polymer Repair Mortar are easy to mix, trowel and apply. The preproportioned packaging assures a consistent mix. FX-243 & FX-273 Trowel Grade Polymer Repair Mortar exhibit superior adhesion and high abrasion impact and freeze-thaw resistance, when compared to similar materials. These properties are achieved by the high polymer content and special plasticizers. FX-243 & FX-273 Trowel Grade Polymer Repair Mortar develop high early compressive and flexural strengths.

WHERE TO USE:

Above or below grade concrete, cement blocks, and stone—ideal as a concrete block filler and stucco—will even bond to glass. If used as a topping on brick, sandblast first and prime with Component "A". If used on wood, fasten galvanized wire or hardware cloth to surface.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Remove all dirt, grease, oil, laitance and curing compounds from concrete, mortar and stone by sandblasting or mechanical roughening. On metals, remove grease, oil, rust and mill scale by sandblasting or wire brushing.

MIXING:

Shake Component "A" Liquid before adding Part B Powder. Pour 3/4 Parts A Liquid in pail or mortar mixer. In pail, mix with a slow speed drill, while adding Part B slowly to avoid lumps. (Do not over mix, three minutes is sufficient mixing.) If a more plastic consistency is required, add remainder of Part A to mix. Should small quantities be required, be sure to use correct ratio of Part A to Part B. (One Part A to 5 1/2 Parts B by volume.)

APPLICATION:

Be sure mortar is mixed thoroughly to a uniform consistency. Masonry surfaces or other absorbent surfaces should be dampened but free of standing water. Trowel FX-243 & FX-273 Mortar in prepared area and allow mortar to stiffen, then produce desired finish by using float or rubber gloves, forcing mortar in voids. If steel trowel finish is required, wet trowel with water. Protect from wind, heat and direct sunlight for the first 24 hours.

PRIMING:

If surface is porous, prime with Component "A" only. Primer must be "wet" while applying FX-243 & FX-273 Trowel Grade Polymer Repair Mortar. If primer has dried, remove by mechanical means and reprime. Clean tools and equipment with water.

LIMITATIONS:

Protect Part A from freezing; if frozen, discard. Store in cool, dry place. Lowest application temperature is 40°F and rising at the time of application. Apply at a thickness of 1/4" to 3/8". FX-243 & FX-273 Trowel Grade Polymer Repair Mortar, "A" & B Components, should be stored at temperatures of 40°F or higher. For the first 24 hours, protect from oil, acids and alkalies. Do not use solvent type curing compound.

PACKAGING:

Two Part Unit

Part "A" is an emulsified liquid polymer, packaged in a 1 gallon plastic jug or 5 gallon pail.

Part B is a blend of special aggregates and cements, packaged in a multi-wall bag (46.5 lbs. polyethylene lined bags).

Total Weight: 55 lbs.

Yield: Approximately 0.4 cubic feet

SHELF LIFE:

One (1) year

CAUTION:

FX-243 & FX-273 Trowel Grade Polymer Repair Mortar contains cement and silica which may cause skin irritation in some cases. Avoid breathing dust. In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with water. If contact with eye is made, flush with water and consult physician if irritation persists.
