Download PDF of FX-241

DESCRIPTION:

FX-241 and FX-271 is a polymer modified cementitious repair material. It is packaged as a two part unit to produce a flowable grout for horizontal aplication. FX-241 is formulated to be used in temperatures of approximately 40°F to 60°F. FX-271 is formulated to be used in temperatures of approximately 60°F and above. For best results, material should be stored between temperatures of 60°F and 95°F.

ADVANTAGES:

FX-241 & FX-271 are easy to mix and apply. The pre-proportioned packaging assures a consistent mix. FX-241 & FX-271 exhibit superior adhesion and high abrasion impact and freeze-thaw resistance. These properties are achieved by the high polymer content and special plasticizers. FX-241 & FX-271 develop high early compressive and flexural strengths.

WHERE TO USE:

FX-241 & FX-271 may be used as a leveling grout for parking garages, walkways, bridges, tunnels and crane rail leveling grout.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Remove all dirt, grease, oil, laitance, and curing compounds from concrete, mortar, and other masonry substrates by sandblasting or mechanical roughening. On metals, remove grease, oil, rust and mill scale by sandblasting or wire brushing.

MIXING:

Shake Part A thoroughly before adding Part B. If mixed in bucket, use a slow speed electric drill, pouring approximately 3/4 gallon (2.84 L) of part A while adding Part B slowly to avoid lumps. If a more fluid consistency is required, add additional Part A to mix. Should smaller quantities be required, use a correct ratio of Part A to Part B (one part A to 7.5 parts B by volume). Do not over mix, three minutes is sufficient.

APPLICATION:

Masonry surfaces or other absorbent surfaces should be damp, but free of standing water. Minimum thickness 1/2" - if depth is 1 1/2" or more, 40 lbs. of 3/8" pea gravel or 3 to 4 gallons by loose volume may be added to the FX-241 & FX-271 70 lb unit. Be sure to mix thoroughly to a uniform consistency. Prepare area which is to receive FX-241 & FX-271 SELF-LEVELING GROUT OR MORTAR before mixing the material. Place FX-241 & FX-271 into prepared area. If desired, finish by screeding or troweling. Protect from wind, heat and direct sunlight for the first 24 hours. Clean tools and equipment with water.

LIMITATIONS:

Protect part A from freezing. If frozen, discard. Store in cool, dry place (40 F (4.4 C) or higher). Lowest application temperature is 40°F (4.4 C). Minimum thickness is 1/2". Apply only to clean, sound substrate. These surfaces should be damp, but free from standing water. For the first 24 hours, protect from oils, acids and alkalies. Do not use solvent type curing compound.
