FX-218 Epoxy Modified Cement Mortar
DESCRIPTION:
FX-218 Epoxy Modified Cement Mortar is a three component, waterbased epoxy cement repair mortar. It is used for resurfacing, patching and filling voids (bugholes) in concrete and masonry structures. FX-218 minimizes outgassing problems typically associated with coating concrete, when used as a cement resurfacer. It has excellent adhesion to concrete and is ready to be topcoated quickly.
ADVANTAGES:
FX-218 provides the following beneficial properties:
- Mixes and applies easily via spray or trowel
- Excellent adhesion to sound substrates
- User friendly 1 to1 epoxy mix ratio
- Designed to fill voids up to 1/2" deep
- Impermeable after cure
- Increases durability
- Water based, easy cleanup

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Allow new concrete and mortar to cure a minimum of 28 days. Concrete, mortar, masonry and rebar surfaces must be clean, free from grease, oil, rust, scale and loosely adhering particles. Surfaces must be saturated surface dry (SSD), with no standing water at time of application. Surfaces must be prepared in accordance with SSPC-SP13/NACE 6 standards prior to applying coating materials. All poor or weak concrete must be removed to provide a sound substrate. After preparation, the surface should exhibit a texture equal to or greater than International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Concrete Surface Profile (CSP) 5.
MIXING:
Shake or agitate both "A" and "B" Component, then pour "A" Component into a container large enough to hold all components. While mixing, slowly add "B" Component. Mix until liquids are uniformly blended. Slowly add "C" Component while continuing to mix. Do not dump all of "C" Component into the liquids at one time. Mix for approximately two minutes or until a smooth consistency is obtained. Less "C" component may be added for a more fluid consistency. Apply product immediately. Clean, dry silica sand (ASTM C33) can be added when filling voids over 1/2" deep.
Important: Do not add additional "C" Component.
APPLICATION:
FX-218 may be applied using hydraulic spray equipment (i.e. 11:1 Grover grout pump or 9.1 WIWA 410 pump) followed by troweling to close the material. No special ACI 308 curing requirements - ambient cure only. Standard concrete finishing trowels, broad knives and rubber floats are recommended. For troweling inside and outside corners, the use of a radius or margin trowel is recommended. Do not overwork material.

CLEAN UP:
Flush and clean all equipment immediately after use with warm water. Clean with soap and water. Do not leave material to harden before cleaning tools and equipment. Hardened material can only be removed mechanically.

LIMITATIONS:
Minimum ambient and substrate temperature for application is 45°F and rising.
SHELF LIFE:
1 year when unopened. Protect Component "A" and "B" from freezing and Component "C" from moisture.
CAUTION:
"A" and "B" components contain non hazardous Epoxy compounds. "C" component CONTAINS FREE SILICA & PORTLAND CEMENT. DO NOT BREATHE DUST. May cause delayed lung injury (silicosis). Follow O.S.H.A. safety and health standards for crystalline silica (quartz). Cement powder or freshly mixed concrete, grout or mortar may cause skin injury. Avoid contact with skin and wash exposed skin areas promptly with water. If any cement powder or mixture gets into the eyes, rinse immediately and repeatedly with water and get prompt medical attention.
