FX-761 Modified Low Modulus Epoxy

Download PDF of FX-761

DESCRIPTION:

FX-761 Modified Low Modulus Epoxy is a two component, 100% solids, moisture-insensitive epoxy resin system. Its low modulus of elasticity permits greater "give" under stress from impact and thermal change. Component "A" is clear; Component "B" is dark amber; mixed is dark amber. FX-761 Modified Low Modulus Epoxy meets the requirements of ASTM C-881-02, Grade 1, Type 3, Class "B" & "C".

ADVANTAGES:

  • High tensile strength and tensile elongation for greater durability under impact and thermal stresses.
  • Deeply penetrates and seals dry, porous concrete.

WHERE TO USE:

FX-761 Modified Low Modulus Epoxy is ideal for broadcast systems applied to substrates to produce a non-skid surface. In addition, FX-761 Modified Epoxy Mortar can be used for epoxy mortar floor toppings and patching on dry or damp surfaces. Can also be used on bridge decks.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

The concrete surfaces to receive FX-761 Modified Epoxy must be clean and sound. Remove dust, laitance, grease, curing compounds, impregnations, waxes, or other contaminants by sandblasting, abrading, or wire brushing. If applied to steel, the surface should be sandblasted and primed, using FX-408 Zinc Rich Primer.

MIXING:

Combine two parts by volume of "A" with one part by volume of "B". The blend should be thoroughly mixed for at least three minutes with an FX-Mixing Paddle or low speed (300 to 600 rpm) drill. Avoid entrapping air.

APPLICATION:

NON-SKID SURFACE—3 COATS: Apply first coat of FX-761 Modified Epoxy at a rate of approximately 150 sq. ft./gal. and allow to cure for a minimum of four (4) hours. Apply second coat of FX-761 Modified Epoxy at a rate of approximately 100 sq. ft. gal. and immediately while second coat is wet, broadcast FX-701 Filler at a rate of approximately 3/4 lb. per sq. ft. No sooner than 4 hours, at 70°F ambient temperature, remove excess FX-701 Filler by broom or vacuum. Apply a third coat (sealer coat) using FX-442 Aliphatic Polyurethane (clear or pigmented, glossy or flat) at a rate of 200 sq. ft./gal. Allow to cure for a minimum of twelve (12) hours before returning to service.

TOPPING:

To prepare FX-761 Modified Epoxy Mortar, slowly add approximately 2 - 3 parts by volume of FX-701 Filler to the mixed FX-761 Modified Epoxy. Apply by trowel or squeegee to desired thickness. If a non-skid surface is desired follow step #2 and #3 of non-skid procedure.

PACKAGING:

FX-761 Modified Epoxy is available in three (3) gallon, fifteen (15) gallon, and one-hundred sixty-five (165) gallon units.

SHELF LIFE:

2 years

LIMITATIONS:

Do not thin FX-761 Modified Epoxy; solvents will prevent proper cure. Applications at temperatures below 50°F will prolong cure.

Epoxy resin (A Component) may crystallize. Heating material to 120°F and stirring will reconstitute material to original condition. Allow to cool before using.

CAUTION:

"A" component contains epoxy resin. DANGER! "B" Component contains alkaline amines; strong sensitizer. May cause skin sensitizatin or other allergic reponses. Use with good ventilation, particularly if material is heated or sprayed. Prevent all contact with skin or eyes. Wear protective clothing, goggles, gloves and/or barrier creams. Keep container closed when not in use. Wash thoroughly after handling.

FIRST AID:

In case of skin contact, immediately wash with soap and water. In case of eye contact, flush eyes with copius amounts of water for at least fifteen (15) minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. Wash clothing before reuse.

FOR INDUSTRIAL USE ONLY. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN. 12/2004
