MSDS Download
DESCRIPTION:
FX-470 Epoxy Protective Coating is a two-component, solvent based epoxy coating. FX-470 is 100% reactive after solvent release. Its convenient 1:1 mixing ratio and long pot life simplify mixing and application. It is available in white, beige, or gray. Other colors are available as a special order product.
ADVANTAGES:
When cured, FX-470 provides a tough, tile-like finish with good flexibility. It protects concrete, steel, or wood against attack by salts, acids and alkalines. When desirable, oven dried fine aggregate may be broadcast onto the surface to provide slip proofing.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
STEEL SURFACES: New steel surfaces should be initially blasted to near-white metal surface cleanliness in accordance with SSPC-SP10 for immersion surface or commercial blast cleanliness in accordance with SSPC-SP6 for non-immersion service. Blast profile on steel should be 1.5-2.0 mils in depth and be of a sharp, jagged nature as opposed to "peen" pattern. May be used as an intermediate or finish coat over FX-408 Zinc Rich Primer.
CONCRETE SURFACES: New concrete shall be cured a minimum of 30 days. Concrete surfaces shall be clean, sound and dry. Abrasive blast to remove curing compounds, existing coatings or laitance prior to application on concrete floors.
MIXING:
Stir Components "A" and "B" thoroughly before mixing. Combine one part by volume of "A" with one part by volume of "B" (mixing ratio 1:1). Mix for not less than three minutes, using a slow speed drill, (300 to 600 rpm) and a FX-Mixing Paddle. When mixing has been completed, cover mixed material and allow an induction time of not less than 45 minutes before application.
APPLICATION:
FX-470 Epoxy Protective Coating may be applied by brush, roller or spray. All spray equipment must employ traps to prevent water and oil from contaminating coating.
COVERAGE:
Apply at a rate of approximately 160 square feet per gallon. Apply at 10.0 WFT to achieve 7.0 DFT. For best results, apply two (2) coats when used as a finish system.
PACKAGING:
FX-470 is packaged in two (2) gallon and ten(10) gallon units.
CAUTION:
WARNING! "A" Component contains epoxy resin. DANGER! "B" Component contains alkaline amines; strong sensitizer. May causes skin senitization or other allergic responses. Use with good ventilation, particularly if materials is heated or sprayed. Prevent all contact with skin or eyes. Wear Protective clothing, goggles, gloves and/or barrier creams. Keep container closed when not in use. Wash thoroughly after handling.
