DESCRIPTION:

FX-441 Anti-Graffiti System, an aliphatic urethane, is manufactured and packaged as an integrated three (3) coat protective system. The system consists of: two (2) intermediate coats and one (1) top coat. The 1st intermediate coat is used as a primer. The Top Coat of the FX-441 Anti-Graffiti System contains special modifiers that allow removal of graffiti without harming the system. The FX-441 System provides a hard abrasion and weather resistant barrier that is aesthetically pleasing and highly resistant to chemical and ultraviolet degradation. FX-441 Top Coat is available in a gloss or a flat finish.

ADVANTAGES:

Excellent graffiti and chemical resistant properties.
Resists stains from many common items such as spray paint, indelible marker, nail polish, food, etc.
Requires no "induction time," just mix A and B together and begin to apply.
Can be applied by brush, roller, or spray.
Resists acid rain and is rain-cleaned of airborne pollutants.
Can be applied to wood, concrete, stucco, brick, block, fiberglass, epoxy coatings, and steel.
FX-441 Top Coat (Graffiti Resistant) may also be used on a sound, clean, non-absorbent surface when only anti-graffiti protection is required.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

Steel Surfaces: Steel surfaces shall be abrasive blasted to a minimum SSPC SP10 "Near White Metal Blast". All work blasted shall be coated the same day with FX-408 Zinc Rich Primer.

Concrete Surfaces: Concrete surfaces shall be cleaned to remove dirt, curing compounds, existing coatings or laitance to provide a clean, sound bonding surface. Cleaning may be accomplished with FX-Masonry Cleaner and waterblasting, acid etching and waterblasting, shotblasting, abrasive blasting, or other methods that would achieve a similar result.

Previously Coated Surfaces: The FX-441 System may be applied over previously applied zinc, epoxies, pigmented urethane, or acrylic elastomeric coatings for metal including FX-501M. Proper surface preparation shall be performed prior to application of FX-441 System. Contact Fox Industries for specific instructions.

MIXING:

Steel Primer: Refer to FX-408 Zinc Rich Primer Data Sheet.

Intermediate & Top Coat: Open and stir each component before mixing. Combine 2 parts by volume of "A" with 1 part by volume of "B" (mixing ratio 2:1). Mix for not less than 3 minutes with a slow speed drill (300 to 600 rpm) and a FX-Mixing Paddle.

APPLICATION:

FX-441 Intermediate and Top Coat may be applied by brush, roller, or spray. All spray equipment must employ traps to prevent water and oil from contaminating coating. The 2nd coat of FX-441 Intermediate Coat can be applied when the 1st coat of FX-441 Intermediate (primer) has cured for a minimum of 6 hours depending upon temperature. FX-441 Top Coat shall not be applied until the previous coat has cured for a minimum of 6 hours depending upon temperature. Apply FX-441 Top Coat last.

COVERAGE:

FX-441 Intermediate and Top Coat will cover 300 sq. ft. per gallon per coat at a thickness of 5.3 mils WFT to achieve 2.5 mils DFT depending on surface texture.

SHELF LIFE:

1 year in unopened containers

CLEANING OF GRAFFITI:

Graffiti can be removed by soap and water, FX-88 Graffiti Remover or in difficult situations, by solvent wiping. Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK) is the preferred solvent.

LIMITATIONS:

Surfaces must be dry; do not apply to wet surfaces. Do not apply below 40°F surface temperature. Do not use when humidity is above 90%.

CAUTION:

FX-441 Intermediate and Top Coats: COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID! CONTAINS POLYISOCYANATES AND XYLENE. Keep containers closed. Avoid breathing vapors. Use with adequate ventilation. When spraying, avoid breathing vapors. Wear solvent resistant gloves, safety glasses, and NIOSH approved organic respirators.

In case of contact with skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. In case of eye contact, flush eyes with copious amounts of water.
