FX-3110SW Multifunctional Chemical Resistant Coating
DESCRIPTION:
FX-3110SW Multifunctional Chemical Resistant Coating is a 100% solids, novolac epoxy coating. FX-3110SW can be used for protection of concrete, wood, and steel from acids and other severe chemical environments, in secondary containment or immersion service. FX-3110SW is suitable for application by brush, roller, or plural component airless spray equipment with inline heaters. Highest chemical resistant properties are achieved by force curing. This provides a cured film, which may be handled upon return to ambient temperature. Contact Fox Industries for complete Guide Specifications.
USES:
Markets where high chemical resistance is required
- Chemical Processing Tanks and Areas
- Pump Bases
- Waterboxes
- Heat exchangers
- Condensers
- FGD scrubber ducts

If FX-3110SW is applied with heated plural component spray force curing may not be necessary for immersion service above. Consult Fox. If FX-3110SW is brush or roll applied, force curing is necessary to achieve enhanced chemical and heat resistance. Allow an initial ambient cure period of minimum of 8 hours at 77°F before force curing.
RECOMMENDED FORCE CURE SCHEDULE
3 Hours @ 200°F
FX-3110SW will cure at ambient temperatures as low as 45°F. However, additional curing time must be provided at low temperatures.
SURFACE PREPARATION:
Metal Surfaces: Remove all grease, dirt and other contaminants from the surface prior to sandblasting. All edges shall be a 1/8" minimum radius. Remove all weld splatters. All coated surfaces, including welds, must be sufficiently smooth such that a fully continuous barrier coat covers the substrate. Coating in immersion service shall be 100% pinhole free.
For immersion service prepare surface in accord with SSPC-SP 5, White Metal Blast Cleaning. For non-immersion service prepare surface in accord with SSPC-SP 10 Near-White Blast Cleaning. Surface profile shall be uniform and angular and from 3 - 5 mils.
Concrete Surfaces: All surface treatments or contaminants including grease, oil, sealers, form release agents and curing compounds shall be removed prior to roughening the concrete surface. Prepare surface such that surface roughness is equivalent to ICRI CSP 3-5. All bugholes, protrusions and other irregularities shall be smoothed or filled. Contact Fox for product recommendation. All coated concrete surfaces must be sufficiently smooth such that a fully continuous barrier coat covers the substrate. Coating in immersion service shall be 100% pinhole free. Surface shall be free of all dust, dirt and other deleterious contaminants immediately prior to coating. The substrate must be visibly dry before proceeding.
MIXING:
Mix ratio is two parts by volume A component to one part by volume B component.

RECOAT WINDOW @ 77°F, 50% RH
Heated Plural Component Spray Applied:
Minimum - 6 hours
Maximum - 36 hours
(Insure no condensation has occurred on surface of coating)
Brush/ Roll Applied
Minimum - 12 hours
Maximum - 72 Hours
(Note: If air or surface temperatures are above 77° F, recoat time can be reduced.)
APPLICATION:
FX-3110SW can be applied by brush, roller or plural component airless spray equipment with inline heaters. Recommended hose is 3/8" heated fluid hose. Graco XTR7 gun is recommended with XHD tip rack. Tip size ranging from .027 to .035. Heat A Component to maximum of 110°F, heat B Component to maximum of 120°F prior to spraying. FX-3110SW is designed to be spray applied on vertical and horizontal surfaces at 20 to 25 mils per coat. 45-50 mils are required to achieve maximum chemical resistance properties.
If recoat time is exceeded, brush blast prior to application of additional coating. Power tool cleaning may also be suitable if properly performed over small areas.
Fabric Reinforcement: Reinforced fabric may be embedded into FX-3110SW to add dimensional strength and greater durability at wall and floor joints or for use as field formed system. See Guide Spec for detailed application information.
Chemical Resistant Epoxy Grout: FX-3110SW can be mixed with FX-701 Filler at a rate of 90 lbs per 3 gallon unit to produce a grout that will yield 1.4 cu. ft. When used as an epoxy grout, surface should be primed with FX-3110SW Coating at a minimum rate of 200 sq ft per gallon or 8 mils. May be placed at a minimum thickness of 1/4".
SHELF LIFE:
2 years
CLEANING:
Clean all equipment immediately after use with MEK or Similar Solvent.
CAUTION:
Refer to the MSDS sheet before use.
WARNING! 'A" Component contains epoxy resin.
DANGER! "B" Component contains alkaline amines; strong sensitizer. May cause skin sensitization or other allergic responses. Use with good ventilation, particularly if material is heated or sprayed. Prevent all contact with skin or eyes. Wear protective clothing, goggles, gloves and/or barrier creams. Keep container closed when not in use. Wash thoroughly after handling.
FIRST AID: In case of skin contact, immediately wash with soap and water. In case of eye contact, flush eyes with copious amounts of water for at least fifteen (15) minutes. Remove contaminated clothing shoes. If irritation persists, seek medical attention. Wash clothing before reuse.
