FX-285 Shotcrete Mix
DESCRIPTION:
FX-285 Shotcrete Mix is a single component, fiber reinforced micro silica shotcrete mortar containing a corrosion inhibiting admixture. FX-285 is fiber reinforced for added tensile strength and flexural strength, and is air entrained for added freeze thaw scaling resistance. FX-285 is simple to use, requiring only jobsite addition of potable water, and clean sand meeting ASTM C-33, at the jobsite.
ADVANTAGES:
High compressive, flexural, and bond strengths in normal set time; with strength gains through 28 days. Contains a corrosion inhibiting admixture. Excellent bond to concrete and other construction material substrates. Concrete sand added at jobsite, reducing manufacturing costs and transportation energy costs. Lowered reboundnotable savings in material and labor to remove rebound from jobsite. Good finishing characteristics.

APPLICATION:
Add approximately 130 pounds ASTM C-33 Concrete sand to each 50 lb bag of FX-285. Use normal dry process shotcrete methods. Be certain receiving surfaces are sound and clean. Predampen surface with clean water for good bond. Follow practices of ACI 506-R85 "Guide to Shotcrete". Mortar should be of plastic consistency when applied whether by shotcrete machinery or by hand.
CURING:
Proper curing is extremely important and should be conducted in accordance with ACI 308 "Standard Practice for Curing Concrete". Apply a curing compound that complies with the moisture retention requirements of ASTM C 309 such as FX-15 WB curing compound; or moist cure for a minimum of 7 days.
PACKAGING:
FX-285 is packaged in 50 lb. bags. Each bag yields approximately 1.43 cubic feet when mixed with 130 lbs of ASTM C-33 sand and 2.5 gallons of potable water is added.
LIMITATIONS:
- Do not apply below 40°F Surface temperature
- Use in thicknesses greater than 1/4 inch
- Protect fresh mortar from rain and freezing
- Apply cure as soon as possible, in conformance with ACI
CAUTION:
WARNING! CONTAINS FREE SILICA & PORTLAND CEMENT. DO NOT BREATHE DUST. May cause delayed lung injury (silicosis). Follow O.S.H.A. safety and health standards for crystalline silica (quartz). Cement powder or freshly mixed concrete, grout or mortar may cause skin injury. Avoid contact with skin and wash exposed skin areas promptly with water. If any cement powder or mixture gets into the eyes, rinse immediately and repeatedly with water and get prompt medical attention.
