DESCRIPTION:

FX-337 Liquid Polymer Additive for concrete and mortar is a modified latex liquid admixture designed to prevent the attack and penetration of de-icing chemicals (salts and chlorides) on bridge decks or any other concrete subject to de-icing chemicals. FX-337, when tested by the Maryland Department of Transportation laboratories, was proven to out-produce any similar material on the market, in every respect.

WHERE TO USE:

  • Bridge decks
  • Sidewalks (exposed to treatment of salts)
  • Garage Floors
  • All exposed concrete subject to de-icing chemicals

ADVANTAGES:

FX-337 improves adhesion of Portland cement pastes to properly pretreated surfaces. Concrete surfaces do not have to be scarified as required by other similar latex additives. However, to obtain the ultimate in bonding, while producing a membrane to avoid contaminants in structural concrete, an epoxy bonding compound, such as FX-752 is highly recommended.

FX-337 reduces the modulus of elasticity by one-half and doubles tensile strength and flexural strength. This, in turn, will reduce cracking, particularly on elevated structures where vibration and deflection take place.

SURFACE PREPARATION:

The areas to receive FX-337 should be free of liquid contaminants, dirt,, dust, grease and heavy laitance. Power wire brushing or sandblasting is recommended for surface preparation.

MIXING:

For optimum performance, it is recommended that three-and-one-half (3 1/2) gallons of FX-337 be used per sack of cement. For indoor areas not subject to de-icing chemicals, two (2) gallons per sack of cement may be used.

APPLICATION:

The modified mixture shall be brushed onto the wetted, prepared surface. Care must be exercised to insure that all vertical and horizontal surfaces received a thorough, even coating. The rate of progress must be limited so that the brushed material does not become dry before it is covered with additional material as required for the final grade.

Ready-mix concrete or mortar should be delivered to the job site dry. FX-337 is added at the job site at a rate of three-and-one-half (3 1/2) gallons per sack of cement. Additional water may be added to achieve the desired slump.

PACKAGING:

FX-337 is available in five (5) gallon and fifty-five (55) gallon containers. Shelf life is unlimited if stored between 32oF and 85°F.

SHELF LIFE:

Shelf life is unlimited if stored between 32°F and 85°F.

LIMITATIONS:

If FX-337 is inadvertently allowed to freeze for a short period (overnight), it is unlikely that any permanent ill-effect will result. A small-scale mix may be made to check suitability after severe freezing. FX-337 should not be used in concrete subject to continuous immersion in gasoline, oils or solvents.

CAUTION:

FX-337 is safe to use and does not contain harmful toxic solvents. Care should be taken to avoid contact with skin. In case of contact with skin or eyes, flush with water for at least fifteen (15) minutes and contact a physician immediately.
